PB & J...or chocolate...or something

I thought I'd try my hand at a peanut butter cake. I love the idea of a peanut butter and jelly cupcake, as I haven't really seen one before. At least not one with a PB cake and jelly frosting. I'm pretty happy with my experiment today- the cake is peanut-y and rich, and would have been great with the grape jelly frosting I had envisioned in my mind. Unfortunately that lovely purple vision was in actuality, a horrid mess. Blech.
I turned to some chocolate frosting to finish the cakes, but remembered that I had some raspberry frosting handy (naturally, don't you? :p). Well, it turned out great! It has the jelly flavor I was looking for, and both frosting flavors topped off with a peanut butter chip look really cute.

Cute *and* tasty. I love making these little guys...

  1. Do you use a piping bag to ice your cupcakes? If so how do you make it look soo dang good?

  2. Yep, I use a piping bag- just takes a little practice! I love how these guys look in the round containers. They're like bunches of flowers...except edible and peanut/chocolate/jelly-y.
